Currently, the Drive have gotten off to a hot start to the new season with a 4-2 record. On Monday, November 18th Detroit’s #15 overall draft pick in the 2019 draft put on a show for the Drive and Pistons fans. He totaled twenty eight points on 10 of 16 shooting while sinking four three pointers.

Due to Doumbouya’s hot start in the G-league it has Pistons fans wondering when he will make his debut with the struggling 4-10 Piston’s team. Fans have to remember that Doumbouya was taken as a developing project. He stands 6’8 with plenty of athleticism and only eighteen years old. Therefore, in this case Detroit should see no reason to rush such a raw talent into the quickly paced NBA so soon.

Another player making an impact with his opportunity for the Drive is Jordan Bone. Detroit picked Bone with the #57th overall draft pick in 2019. Hoping he would make a name for himself in the summer league and make the team. In three games for the summer league team he averaged 12.33 points per game, but in final game of the summer he lead the way with 18 points. In Bone’s first five games as a member of the Drive he averaged 20.4 points a game and 8.8 assists. It’s safe to say that so far Bone is making the most of his opportunity.

Even with the Pistons struggling mightily there’s definitely some positives to season. It’s unclear whether Detroit will call for reinforcements soon, or let the youngsters keep dominating their competition with the Drive. At this point in the season many Piston’s fans have turned their attention to the future. Although judging from the Drive’s start it’s safe to say one thing the Detroit faithful doesn’t have to worry about is the production from the 2019 draft picks in Grand Rapids.
